Best Design 2011: The Binding of Isaac

It’s not often a game blows your motherfucking mind with awesome. Edmund McMillen’s disgusting, perhaps militantly atheist mind trip into the very heart of ‘gothic’ is filled with dungeon crawler, Rogue-like expeditions is just… spectacularly retro. The procedural level design, the permadeath features and the balancing of all the different elements (both in the design and in the overall ‘numbers’ of health and powers) all add up to create one of the most potent experiences of the past year. It’s honestly one of the greatest games that McMillen has made.

It’s a near endless game with one of the smallest price-tags possible. Seriously, buy it.
